Keeping our head above water

Things have been busy here, it seems that when I finally think we will be home for a day, something happens and we run out the door.  Some days I feel as if I am slogging through mud.  For a change of pace a few weeks ago we baked muffins and snacks and headed over to see Uncle Travis, Aunt Stephanie, Amelia and Clarissa.  Madilyn was a big help in cleaning up the beater, brother cleaned up the bowl.

When we woke up in Moses Lake, there was snow!  The kids played outside in the dusting of snow for almost an hour.  It is very exciting if you don't see it all that often.  We stayed in a townhouse/loft for less than  motel and had a full kitchen, living room, loft bedroom and private yard. It was great.

Madilyn turned 2, we had a small party with Grandma, Papa, Bo, Maylo, May may and us.  Thank you to Aunt Donna and Uncle Brian for the pony PJ's, we must wear them every night now.  It has made for some creative washing times, but she loves them.

She got her own baby doll.  It is a huge hit!  She now pushes it in a stroller everywhere.  May may made the doll a blanket, hat and scarf which has to be taken off and on at least 100x a day.

Though I have not been good with keeping up on posting, we still continue to have dark days diners.  Last night was meatball soup, a very quick and easy "go to" dinner around here.  It has 2 steps - make meatballs and cook them in the oven.  Then open 3 cans of vegetables from the pantry - carrots, beans and tomatoes all from our garden.  Boil, add some basil, chives, onions and garlic and serve with meatballs on top.

We ate cake, chocolate cake of course.  Madilyn is totally a girl - she loves all things chocolate, ladybugs, pretties (hair clips), and ponies.  She also does not mind making mud pies with brother and rolling in the dirt - but chocolate is the way to her heart.

James has become quite the dapper Dan, he has to dress up when we are going out - button up shirts, cowboy hat, corduroy suit jacket and cowboy boots are his favorite.  He is going to break hearts soon.  My friend Dawn took some photos of the kids awhile ago and posted them the other day to her blog.  She did a good job, but they are good looking kids too (I may be a bit biased) Head on over to Dawn Bennett Images to see them.
